71/72 Dr claims Jago view mistaken Mercury? unknown

Health Minister Jago had misunderstood the stipulations laid down for an asthma clinic at Wollongong Hospital, Dr Alexander James said yesterday.
Mr Jago had three "seriously mistaken" ideas of what Dr James wanted in the establishment of the proposed clinic.
The panel's decision, released on Wednesday, said stipulations by Dr James were unacceptable for the establishment of the proposed clinic.
Mr Jago said it appeared an impasse had been reached between Dr James and the panel.
Mr Jago said Dr James stipulated that the clinic be for therapeutic purposes only, that it be established under a permanent basis, under his name and operated by him personally.
Dr James yesterday said these ideas were mistaken.
He wanted the clinic primarily to train medical personnel in his drug-free methods and not only for therapy.
He did not necessarily want his name to be used in the name of the clinic. Yesterday he suggested the name Asthma Physiotherapy Centre.
The clinic should operate from the out-patients department of the hospital with a small space set aside for physiotherapy benches, Dr James said.
"I would only need to attend the hospital for a period of two months to train others, then I could retire." he said.
He had no objection to experts assessing his work on a clinical trial basis, but he objected to any other doctor interfering with his patients.
Dr James said he was writing to Mr Jago, setting out in detail his requirements "so that he will not be mistaken again."
